Trapped, but we're not really trapped
Caged, but again we're not
Maybe all this is in our mind, this imprisonment
We can go out, we can walk
We're not under lock and key, even though some feel we are
We can shop for our food, our drink, our treats
People moan, people complain, people rant about their freedom
But we're free, make no mistake, it's a lockdown of choice
A lockdown of common sense
But then common sense isn't that common
That's why people are bitching about this, when other people are dying
Be sensible, get on with it, do the right thing for the human race
Most of us are at home, with our comforts, with our internet
It's not like we've been given a gun, shipped overseas,
told to kill people
We're not in the trenches, it's a war, yes, but a comfortable war
A war we can win by staying at home, by staying safe
By being considerate
Yes, the kids are rowdy, they won't do school work anymore
Our homes are slowly turning into a chapter from Lord of the Flies
But that's nothing compared to what some people
have to put up with right now
So take a moment, enjoy their company, don't worry about schooling
This isn't forever, we're all in it together, this moment in time
We must ignore all the bad news, because there is a lot of it for sure
Instead we must focus on Some Good News, because it's out there
Let's give thanks to people like John Krasinski
and all our other brothers and sisters who are keeping us engaged,
keeping us together
But more importantly,
let's give the rightful respect to those people saving lives
To those people on the front lines
And to those people who are keeping everything moving for us
We must be forever grateful to them -
they are the true heroes in this story
But this time will pass, this will all be a distant memory one day
With science, love and a sense of humour, we'll get through it
The bad thing about all of this is never knowing <music ends>...
...when it will end
